I just downloaded and saved the file to my hard drive, but I forgot where it is. How can I find it again?
This is a common problem and the solution is very easy. Normally your web browser defaults to the same directory for every download, until you change it. An easy way to find out the download directory is to simply start another download. When asked, choose to save the file to your hard drive and the "Save As" window will appear, revealing your download directory.
I am very happy that I can Cut, Copy and Paste these programs easily. I managed to place all of them in one folder called Spelling. Now I want to create shortcuts to each of these programs but I don’t know how. Can you tell me if it is possible?
Yes, it is. Just right click on the chosen program in your Spelling folder to open Context Menu. Then click on Send to and then Desktop (Create Shortcut). A new Icon will appear on your screen with the title like “Shortcut to PowerSpell.P01.exe”. Now you can click slowly twice on this title to rename it for neater presentation. From now on if you double click on the Icon the program will open automatically.

Does this Spelling Program pronounce the words through the computer speaker? Does it have a spelling list? Does it remember words that are spelled incorrectly so that they can be reviewed?
I have pleasure to say YES to all of these questions! The program has many more features. One of them allows you to practise only words you have misspelled or added to the list. This special characteristic makes it easier to remember misspelled words and accelerates the process of learning. The program prints detailed reports of the results and is easy to use, logic, and powerful.
How does Fohandnag’s System work?
First it tests your spelling and uses bookmarks to personalise the vocabulary for you. The list of bookmarks is created automatically while you are practising.
After testing, the program dictates words that
you have misspelled until the spelling is
mastered.
System
requirements:
To perform at optimum level you should have
a Pentium II machine or faster. Windows 95, 98,
NT4, 2000, Me, XP or Vista. If you are not sure
simply download the program form our Download
Centre. If it opens and ask you for Activation
Password it means that your computer is suitable.
The downloads should only take a few
minutes.
It is important to learn how to make the most of the program.
1. Getting Started
- Click on the Opening button and you will enter the Home Page. There you can start practising your spelling.
- Before doing that, you can view and print the list of words you are going to practise in the Vocabulary Page. Simply click on the Vocabulary button and then the Print button.
- To start learning or to test yourself, click on Section 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, type in the word you hear, and press Enter. The program will check your spelling, and if the spelling is correct it will dictate the next word to you. If you spell the word incorrectly, the program will show you the correct spelling for 2 seconds, and then allow you to type it again afterwards.
- The incorrectly typed word will be bookmarked, allowing you to spell it again later. This aspect personalises the program, so keep it to yourself. You don’t want non-authorised
users changing your bookmarks. You can, of
course, clear or amend your list of bookmarks
whenever you wish. But by default, the
bookmarks will not be erased even after you
exit the program.
- The bookmarks allow you to concentrate
on words you have misspelled or added to your
list. It is an especially useful feature of the
Art of Spelling, and helps you learn more
quickly.
2. How to
Use the Score Page
- Once you complete Section 5, you will be
taken to the Score Page where you will be able
to view and print a list of misspelled words.
- Your score will be the number of correct
spellings compared to the total number of
spelled words.
- You can also Reset the Score and list of
misspelled words any time you want to make a
clean start.
- Remember to print the list, as it will
be erased from the program's memory as soon as
you quit the program.
3. How to
Learn Bookmarked Words
- First, you will have to create a list of
bookmarks. To see how to do so, please see
Paragraph 4.
- Now, go to the Home Page and click the
Section 1 button. You will hear the word, you
will have to type in. Once you have typed the
word, please do not press Enter. Instead press
the Tab key on you keyboard.
- The program will check your spelling and
if the word is spelled correctly it will
dictate one of your bookmarked words to you. If
you spell that word incorrectly, it will show
you the correct spelling for 2 seconds, and
will allow you to type it afterwards.
- Keep pressing the Tab key instead of the
Enter key, and the program will dictate one
bookmarked word after the other.
- When the program reaches the end of the
list of bookmarked words, it will move in the
opposite direction (to the beginning of the
list) and vice versa when it reaches the
beginning of the list, it will move to the end
of the list.
- So, by means of Tab key, you can move
backwards and forwards through your bookmarked
word list, until you master the spelling of all
the words.
4. How to
Create a List of Bookmarks
- Words are automatically bookmarked
whenever you make a spelling mistake. But if
you want to add a word anyway, simply press
Enter after you hear the word, and that word
will be added to your List of Bookmarks.
5. How to
Clear or Amend Your List of Bookmarks
- To delete one bookmarked word from the
list, go to Home Page and click on the
Bookmarks button. Click on the word you want to
delete, and click the Delete button. Repeat the
action to delete the next word from the list.
- Click on the Clear All button and OK,
ONLY if you want to start a new list of
bookmarks, (at least one new bookmarked word).
Otherwise, the list will not be erased and all
the prior bookmarks will remain in the computer
memory. As though no action had taken place.
6. What to
Do if You Have No Apostrophe on Your keyboard and
an Apostrophe is required for Correct Spelling?
- You will have to skip the word. Instead
of typing the word in the box, click on the
Left or Right Bookmark button on your screen if
you are practising your bookmarks or the
Backwards or Forwards button on your screen if
you are practising the default list of words.
7. How Hear a Word
Again
- To hear a word again while practising,
just press the F12 key on your keyboard.
Alternatively, click on the Repeat button on
your screen.
8. How to Make note of
a Word for References
- Click on the Notebook button, and you
will be taken to the Notebook Page, where you
can type in anything you like and print it
later. You can leave notes on this page about
words that cause you the biggest problems, or
just add a new word or type the definition of
an unknown word, and so on.
9. How to See
Interesting Extra Information
- Some pages offer extra information about
words you hear. These pages are marked with a
thin greenish-blue strap below the navigation
buttons. To access this information simply
click on F8 button on you keyboard. To close it
click on F9 button on your keyboard or press
